Notice: This page of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 908 website is provided as a courtesy to our members. Please take a moment and share this with your employees, students, and subtenants:

This afternoon we had a runway incursion involving an non-tenant vehicle crossing Runway 14/32. The vehicle operator had been given the access code to one of the code gates by an Airport Tenant. The operator, not being familiar with airport operations in general, and the Airport's rules and regulations, proceeded to cross Runway 14/32 not realizing that the runway was in use. The ATCT was in dual-runway arrival and departure operations using both Runway 27 and Runway 32.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

To reiterate, It is the responsibility of all Airport Operators, Lessees, and Sub lessees to see that all gate chains and doors and other public safeguards are continually and conscientiously used in a manner so as to protect all persons and that Authorized persons may not share combination codes or access information. Additionally, under the St. Lucie County Ordinance 07-051, "...No person shall enter the AOA except those persons authorized by the Airport Director, including those having a Badge issued by the Airport Director or under appropriate escort." Remember that any contractors or other entities performing work for you or even visiting must also comply with the Airport rules and regulations. This is for everyone's safety so that we do not have an incident or event that results in loss of life or damage to property.

Please remember that any permission granted directly or indirectly, expressly or by implication, to any entity to enter upon or use the Airport is conditioned upon assumption of responsibility by the entity exercising or taking advantage of permission, and full and complete compliance with Airport's Rules and Regulations, Primary Guiding Documents, and applicable Regulatory Measures.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.
