Vol. 1 No.2
Greetings to all. This announcement is being repeated for those who may have missed the first issue.
What your looking at is a new method I've come up with to spread information and news to the members of the Chapter. The goal is not to replace the eaa908.org website but to provide the membership with news and  important timely information.
The success of this new device will depend in great part to those of you that contribute photos and more important, news stories, announcements, reminders. Please don't feel you have to be some kind Journalism school graduate, I sure ant. I encourage you to forward these emails to anyone who may not be on our mailing list.
Please send your contributions to Romeo Vadnais 908enews@eaa908.org
A reminder.... This months meeting, November has been moved up to the second Wednesday the 14th as opposed to the third Wednesday. Time will remain at 7:00 PM. The following Saturday the 17th will be the Fly-In Breakfast.
Most importantly it's the meeting when we Vote for new officers. This time we will be voting in a new Vice President, Treasurer and one Director. A number of nominees have registered with Jim Royal, the Nominee Committee Chairman. A final call for nominees will be made before the voting begins.
You must be a Member in good standing in order to vote. There is no Absent-T voting or Proxy Voting.
Good luck to all.

The November 3rd 2007 Young Eagle Rally
Kevin Griffin our "Young Eagles Coordinator" reports a successful event. His full report can be found in the Young Eagles section of the Members Area of our website and in the next "Hylites" newsletter.
The first flight was at 08:40 and the last was at 12:00. Thirty three kids were flown. Kevin said "
The most significant lesson learned from this Young Eagle event is that the web site www.EAA908.org pre registration works.  In other words, if we can direct the kids to our web site they will see the pre registration banner on the home page." continued.

ALUMINUM OVERCAST over the Treasure Coast?? Not this year.
ATTEND THE B-17 'KEEP IT FLYING' TOUREAA's B-17 was scheduled to be giving rides out of Vero on Tuesday and Wednesday the 30th and 31 last month however because of the storm heading up our east coast the big war bird was grounded. Passenger and plane safety came first so activities were limited to tours of the plane and simulated flights on a three screen simulator. Dozens of scheduled passengers were disappointed.
The Chapter 99 is planning to host this event again next year.
There will be a detailed wrap up report at the next Chapter 99 members meeting on Nov.13, 2007

Can it be true Uncle Scrooge that EAA Chapter 908 will not have a Christmas Party get-together this year? Why yes my son. Rumor has it that no one has contacted your brothers Ron Knaggs and Ed Booth offering any suggestions or ideas or interest toward the planning of this wasteful event, Bah Humbug.... I guess everyone is too busy.

It's not too late if anyone has any suggestions call Ron or Ed.

Chapter Club House Computer, an update from Ron Knaggs.

"The EAA 908 has recently upgraded the computer facilities available to all member in the Chapter House. We now have High Speed Internet capabilities with several extra ports for member laptops or you can use the WiFi connections. The range as has not been tested outside of the Chapterhouse for WiFi as yet.

Since many members will be using the service, no security has been established. Thus, be sure you are protected with a firewall and anti virus programs. You may also fire up the Chapter computer and select that "any member" box at sign in if you do not bring your own equipment.
If you have any questions please contact Ron Knaggs 332 7162"

THE FUTURE OF NEW HIBISCUS?

Military Appreciation Monday

November 12, 2007

For the past 6 years, Golden Corral has been honoring the US Military with a free “thank you” dinner and beverage at any Golden Corral restaurant on Military Appreciation Monday (first Monday after Veteran’s Day). This year, Golden Corral has designated Monday, November 12, 2007, from 5 to 9 pm, to honor any person who has ever served in the United States Military.

From the first Military Appreciation Monday in 2001 to the present, Golden Corral has donated 1.5 million free “thank you” meals and $1.9 million dollars to the Disabled American Veterans.
Between November 1 and November 12, 2007, the Disabled American Veterans Organization will accept contributions to be used in the local and state DAV chapters.
For the last two years members of the Chapter have attended this event and have even car pooled over to the Okeechobee road restaurant. We usually meet at the club house around 4 PM. A BIG thank you to the Golden Corral.
